Serra de Monchique

“Walk to feel your natural senses”

Get away from the mass holiday hotspot and enjoy a full day’s walk in the quiet and green Serra de Monchique.
Feel the warm sun in your face and the scent of the wild flowers, the eucalyptus and pine trees. Walk on the century old donkey tracks and paths, leading to an amazing walk. On this superb hiking tour you experience a bright colored side of the Algarve.

The tour will lead you along fig trees, orange groves, eucalyptus & cork forest, almond trees, medronho and allows you picturesque views on the valleys.

Hiking is the perfect way to truly experience the area, without damaging the environment.

At 10h00 we meet at the “Galp” petrol station at the entrance of Monchique (see map). Here you can easily park your car, have a coffee or use the toilet before we leave.
We walk around the village of Monchique with it´s original vegetation. Later you will pass by the old convent build in 1634 and visit the daily fresh market in the centre.

Included in the price, we will organize a tasty lunch in a restaurant/café at the centre square of Monchique. Ar a reserved table on the terrace, you will enjoy an individual chicken salad, a king size baquette of your choice, one drink and a coffee.

In the afternoon you will continue your guided hike into southern direction. Here the walk ends in the historical spa resort of Caldas de Monchique at around 16h00. A van will wait there to bring you back to Monchique to your car.
