The guided TransAlgarve by MTB for individual riders
Every year we organise a mountain biking week for individual riders who want to ride the Via Algarviana with our Portuguese MTB guide. This year we have a guided tour planned with a departure on Sunday 18th October 2020.
The TransAlgarve, also known as GR13 and is based on the old pilgrim’s route Via Algarviana. It leads you from Monte Gordo at the Spanish border, through the interior of the Algarve, to Sagres. Here you end at the iconic lighthouse of Cape Saint Vicente, on top of the rocks, near Sagres.
Our Portuguese guide leads you daily over double and single tracks and through forests and grasslands. The daily distance is on average 60-70 km with 85 km on the last day. Although this last day is mostly downhill from the Serra de Monchique to Sagres, there is still around 1000 meters to climb.
3 diners are included and served in your next hotel awhere you also enjoy a nutritious breakfast in the morning.
Although this is a guided week, you can choose to ride alone on your own pace with our detailed GPS route, or join other like-minded riders with similar interest.
We have a small group booked so far, and this is sufficient to confirm a guaranteed departure of the TransAlgarve starting 18/10/2020.
Hire a hard-tail Giant, KTM e-bike, or bring your own
We ride Giant 29ers with 2×10 or 3×10 gears and hydraulic disc brakes. These hard-tails come with a helmet and bottle holder. If required we can mount SPD pedals, but bring your own shoes please.
We work together with a large KTM dealership from where we can supply you with a KTM Macina Race 29er ebike. Please contact us for more details. The hired bikes will be delivered to you in Faro on the Sunday 18th October.
Alternatively feel free to bring your own bike. We shall transport your bike from the airport to the first hotel and keep your bike box in storage during the week.
Get in touch and let us know how we can help.
