The Via Algarviana for individual riders
Every year we organise a mountain biking week for individual riders who want to ride the Via Algarviana. This year we have a tour planned with departure on Saturday 10th October 2020.
The GR13 leads you from Monte Gordo at the Spanish border, through the interior of the Algarve, to Sagres. Here you end at the iconic lighthouse of Cape Saint Vicente, on top of the rocks, near Sagres.
The GPS route leads you daily over double and single tracks and through forests and grasslands. The daily distance is on average 70 km with 90+ km on the last day. Although this last day is mostly downhill from the Serra de Monchique to Sagres, there is still around 1000 meters to climb.
Diner is served in the next B&B and a nutritious breakfast as well the next morning.
With our detailed GPS route you can choose to ride alone on your own pace, or join other like-minded riders with similar interest.
We have a small group booked so far, and this is sufficient to confirm a guaranteed departure of the start for the TransAlgarve at 10/10/2020.
Hire a bike
or bring your own
We ride Giant 29ers with 2×10 or 3×10 gears and hydraulic disc brakes. These hard-tails come with a helmet and bottle holder. If required we can mount SPD pedals, but bring your own shoes please.
We work together with a large KTM dealership from where we can supply you with a KTM Macina Race 29er ebike. Please contact us for more details. The hired bikes will be delivered to you in Faro on the Saturday 10th October.
Alternatively feel free to bring your own bike. We shall transport your bike from the airport to the first hotel and keep your bike box in storage during the week.
